Why local information matters
Local government is often the first place people look when they need to understand what is happening in their area. Greenhaven Council therefore has a responsibility not only to publish information about its own work, but to make public information about Greenhaven understandable and useful.
That means explaining responsibilities in ordinary language, keeping information current and avoiding the common problem of presenting every public service as though it belongs to the council.
Helping people find the right public body
Some matters belong to Greenhaven Council, some to the Steadfast & Hearth Combined Sphere Authority, some to central government or another public body, and some to an operational service such as policing. Where the council is not responsible, local information will still help residents identify the correct route rather than simply ending with “not our service”.
Keeping Greenhaven information accurate
Official Greenhaven information identifies the council area, public bodies, elected representatives and office holders that are currently in place. Ward boundaries, council offices and official roles will appear on the website when they have been formally established.
Integration across local services
Integration is about making local public administration easier to navigate. It can involve clear referral routes, consistent information and coordination between functions without obscuring which organisation remains accountable for the underlying decision or service.
Official council information
This website is Greenhaven Council’s public information route. Formal council information, decisions, notices and service details will be published here or linked from here so residents can identify the current council record.
Helping residents find the right service
Use this section when you know the subject of your enquiry but are unsure which organisation is responsible. It explains Greenhaven Council's responsibilities in ordinary language and points to another authority where the service sits elsewhere.
Local civic residence
A local civic residence record links a person to the Greenhaven local area for council information, local participation and routing to the correct local services. It is separate from immigration residence, settlement, citizenship and electoral registration. The declaration service can open after the council has commenced the function and can support residents who cannot use the online route.
Current position
Greenhaven does not currently operate a local civic residence declaration. When the service opens, the council route shown here will be the way to create or update that local record.
What the service will connect to
Once operating, local integration can connect residents with the correct council, elected representatives, public services, civic places, consultations, volunteering, societies, events and other opportunities to take part in local life.
