Council status
The present constitutional and administrative position of Greenhaven Council.
Greenhaven and Greenhaven Council
Greenhaven is a recognised local area in the Hearth sphere of Havenstead. Greenhaven Council is the principal local authority for that area. The existence of the local area and the commencement of the council are separate matters: Greenhaven already exists as administrative geography even though the council has not yet begun operating.
What has already been established
Greenhaven Council is constitutionally recognised as a Havenstead principal council and is a constituent council of the Steadfast & Hearth Combined Sphere Authority. The functions assigned to Havenstead principal councils and the common governance arrangements are set out in the Havenstead local government settlement.
What remains to be established
No Greenhaven Council commencement date is currently in force. Greenhaven’s ward names and boundaries, the size of the council, the number of councillors and the resulting elected membership have not yet been settled through the local government boundary and electoral processes.
Because the council has not commenced, there is also no current Greenhaven Council Leader, Cabinet membership, committee membership, published meeting programme or appointed Greenhaven team of statutory officers to present as live council machinery.
What commencement means for residents
Commencement is when Greenhaven Council begins exercising its functions. From that point, residents will see live service routes, public meetings and decisions, councillor information and the council officers responsible for public administration.
Current Greenhaven arrangements are presented separately from future dates, appointments and services that have not yet come into force.
