Complaints and feedback
How complaints about Greenhaven Council functions will be handled once those functions are operating.
What the complaints function is for
Greenhaven Council has responsibility for complaints relating to the functions it exercises. A complaints process gives people a structured way to tell the council when they believe a service or administrative action has not been handled properly and to receive a recorded response.
Before you complain
Use a complaint when you are dissatisfied with Greenhaven Council administration or, once services open, with a council service. A request for recorded information uses the information request route. A complaint about an elected councillor's conduct uses the councillor conduct route after councillors have been elected.
Appeals, reviews and objections
Some decisions have their own appeal, review or objection process. Where a separate procedure applies, that route is used instead of the general complaints procedure because it is the process capable of changing or reviewing the decision.
Handling complaints fairly
When the full complaints procedure is in force, this page will show how to complain, the review stages, expected response times and the route available after the council's own procedure has been completed.
Complaints about other organisations
Greenhaven Council cannot determine complaints about a service it does not provide or a public body it does not control. The council’s local information function will nevertheless help identify the correct organisation where responsibility is clear.
Complaints you can make now
Greenhaven Council has not yet commenced its assigned local services, so there is no current service complaints caseload. You can, however, complain about the council's present establishment administration, the handling of a Greenhaven Council enquiry or this website.
If your concern is simply a request for information or a correction, the general contact route may be quicker. Use the complaint form where you want the matter recorded and considered as a complaint.
How the complaints procedure works
The complaints page will show which complaints the procedure covers, how to complain, the review stages, expected response times and the route available after the council's procedure has been completed.
Learning from complaints
Published complaints information can include recurring themes, service improvements and whether earlier problems have been resolved. Personal and confidential information is excluded from public complaints reporting.
