Election model

Councillors for Havenstead principal councils are elected from wards using first past the post. All councillors are elected together at the ordinary election every four years unless later law provides otherwise.

Greenhaven wards

A ward is Greenhaven’s electoral unit below the local area level. Ward names and boundaries are established through the Havenstead local government boundary process. Existing place names do not automatically become electoral wards.

No official Greenhaven ward list or ward map is currently published because those arrangements have not yet been settled.

Council size and representation

The number of councillors on Greenhaven Council and the number representing each ward form part of the local electoral arrangements. Those figures will be published once they have been properly established. Until then, the council size remains unspecified.

What councillor pages will contain

After an election, the councillor directory will list members by ward with council contact details and council roles. The council's political and governance composition will also be shown where that information exists; party political campaigning remains separate from the institutional council website.

Boundary reviews

The Local Government Boundary Commission for Havenstead is the independent body responsible for Havenstead local electoral arrangements. Boundary work is separate from ordinary council administration so that wards and councillor numbers are established through a proper review rather than drawn to suit the council of the day.

Information published after an election

After the first Greenhaven election, the councillor directory will show each councillor, the ward represented, council contact information, committee memberships and the published interests information required by the standards arrangements.

Election information

For a Greenhaven election, the public pages will provide the timetable and notices that apply, the wards being contested, candidate information required for publication and the declared results. Official election information will be kept separate from party political campaigning.
